Specific day trips from Kandy listed below: Trekking through Knuckles Mountain Range - Listed as a world heritage site, this beautiful mountain range that has five peaks which resemble a clenched fist. On this day tour you will depart Kandy city at 8am with your dirver pciking you up from your accomodation. You will then be taken to some of the most popular vantage points in Kandy with a mix of driving and walking depending on your preference. Lunch will be provided, usually picnic food such as Sri Lankan bakery goods (vegetarian or no vegetarian) and you will return to you accommodation at 4pm. Kandy Botanic Garden - Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage or Millennium Elephant Foundation - Departs Kandy accomodations at 8:30am with your driver picking you up, you will spend 1-2 hours exporing the gardens and grabbing beautiful photo opportunities. Next we move on to morning tea then see Elephants in their natural environment. This is the highlight of many travelers visits to Sri Lanka. Lunch stop included during the trip. You will be returned back to accommodations by 5pm. Kandy Spice Farms - Tea Factory - Temple of the Tooth - Kandyan Cultural Dance Show Depart you Kandy accommodation at 9am for a morning of visiting Kandy's famous spice farms. See where the Auryvedic herbs are grown, what they are remedies for and see how the best cinnamon in the world is grown and processed. Drive back to Kandy for lunch and take a tour of Temple of the Tooth. We then head back to afternoon tea at Kandy's oldest still functioning tea factory (150 years old). Then enjoy an afternoon tour of the tea factory and plantation, sampling the freshest of the fresh teas. The dance show will have been booked for 4pm-5pm. The Kandy cultural show is a spectacular display of Kandyan dancing chanting and instrumental talents. Kandy - White Water Rafting in Kithulgala - For the more adventurous traveller, we reccomend a day of white water rafting in Kithulgala which holds 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids over 5kms. Available to anyone 10yr old, all safety gear and briefing is provided. Nature views while rafting are stunning and add to a fun day for all! Depart your Kandy 8am and arrive back by 4pm. Lunch provided. Kandy - Dambulla Caves - Sigiriya Lion Rock - Polonnaruwa or Anuradhapura Depart your Kandy accommodation at 8am for a big day of exploring Sri Lanka's most famous sites. From Kandy to Dambulla it is a 2.5 hour drive with occasional roadside stops for fresh king coconuts or fruit. Watch your driver bargain with local stall holders and interact with them the Sri Lankan way. Wou will soon discover that all Sri Lankans treat each other like friends. Your driver can also translate for you, another bonus of hiring a local guide! Spend 1 hour exploring Dambulla Caves, and remember to dress accordingly. Long pants or skirt for men and women, as well as shoulders covered in respect to the religious site and monks. Lunch provided and back to accommodations by 5pm. |
